1756c. Sat 9/3/24: The Jackalope, Marylebone, London

Beer: Thornbridge Coco Cocoa 5.5%

We arrive, check the menu, decide not to eat and leave again.

Waitrose on Marylebone High St seems a better option. We’re all feeling the beer a little and DITHER. Buying an egg sandwich and a random choc bar becomes a bit of a roller coaster. Kind of like Hunter S Thompson, if Hunter S Thompson was a bit tired and tipsy and had gone a half pint over, rather than HST being outrageously “off” on the drugs and firing guns and that.

I scoff the choc just before we get back to The Jackalope, and don’t check the strength of the Coco Cocoa Porter. The recent choc – there are still bits in my teeth – hide the flavour. I have two pints of the stuff, which later reveals itself to be delicious, and about as subtle and nuanced as Fear and Loathing.

More talk about pretentious films. Though to be fair, if one watches a number of these things and takes something out of them, are they still pretentious?
