Beer: Stockport Ales Magnum 5.6%
I love a pub that’s so serious about beer it goes out of its way not to have the standard brands on tap, and instead substitutes a huge range ales, stouts and foreign beers on tap and in bottles. There is such a choice it has its own (vast) Beer Menu (see picture).
MW and I ventured there at lunchtime. I’d expressed a desire for a stout or porter (The Lion always has one or two on) and I happily ordered a Magnum.
At 5.6% it’s perhaps not a lunchtime beer, but was scarily more-ish. There are posters advertising the upcoming Dark Beer Festival there next month. (Mental note to block book that week in the diary.)
